THE PEOPLE
Hello! Iām Steph, Owner and Trainer at Howl Mountain Canine Services.
Like many of you, I grew up with and around dogs, dabbling in training and dog sport. The real journey, though, started with Brixy (Saint Bernard/Husky mix in picture). My girl was dog aggressive, leash reactive, and had little interest in me. What I learned through the process: there is not one way to change or reinforce behavior, genetics and environment have a major impact on behavior and learning, the people living with the dogs are just as important in the process, and- this is all I want to do for the rest of my life. Of course I learned so much more, but these few lessons changed the course of my life.
My professional experience working in shelters, corporate training facilities, and privately as a trainer is well balanced with education, credentials and certifications.
I really believe that the human-dog relationship is one that is unrivaled. Our dogs are our family and best friends, and we owe it to them to bring out their best potential.
Other than working with dogs and people, I love to spend time in the woods with my husband and personal dogs, watch horror movies, and learn more about animal behavior and inter-species relationships.

AKYNA! Also known as Kiki, is a 1 year old Siberian Husky. Akyna comes to sessions to help with dog reactivity, parallel walks, trigger practice, and appropriate play.
THE DOGS
BRIXY! 6 Year old Saint Barnard/Husky mix. After going through her own behavior modification, she now goes to sessions with dogs that need to practice around a trigger and work on parallel walks.
